No tropical fruit, no carbon footprint – Van Mango does pop songwriting its own way: organically grown, locally rooted, and marinated in a generous serving of 80s vintage dressing. With the occasional detour into progressive territory, where songs take their time, twist unexpectedly, and arrive somewhere you didn't quite see coming.

The band wears its influences on its sleeve – but lightly. Echoes of the classic 80s pop and rock canon surface here and there, enough to feel familiar, never enough to feel borrowed. Van Mango knows where it comes from and uses that knowledge to brew something entirely its own. The result: songs that feel like they could have existed before, yet somehow belong to no one else.

At the centre are vocals with an instinct for melodies that stick – matched only by a willingness to disrupt them, breaking anthemic choruses open with well-placed vocoder effects and a healthy disregard for the obvious. Driven by electric guitars that cut and solo with room to breathe, bass lines with a melodic agenda of their own, and keyboards that shimmer quietly one moment and surge epically the next.
